Notable events held at this shrine are the Ume Matsuri (梅まつり) in early spring, the Reitaisai (例大祭) in May, and the Kiku Matsuri (菊まつり) in November.

Kiku Matsuri at Yushima Tenjin Shrine

The Kiku Matsuri, literally meaning the Chrysanthemum Festival, held here in November is one of the most famous chrysanthemun exhibithion in Tokyo. Though this shrine is not that large, chrysanthemum flowers are displayed in wide varieties of ways at this event.
