Onoterusaki JinjaOnoterusaki Jinja (小野照崎神社) is a Shinto shrine which is a 3-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line Iriya Station, or a 7-minute walk from JR Yamanote Line Ueno Station. The Reitaisai, or the annual grand festival, of the Shrine is held on the weekend of mid-May.

Reitaisai at Onoterusaki Jinja

The Reitaisai (例大祭) is held on the weekend nearest to May 19. This is usually the same dates with the Sanja Matsuri of Asakusa Shrine.On Sunday, every three years, the mikoshi owned by the Shrine makes procession. If it's the year which the Shrine's mikoshi doesn't make a procession, mikoshi owned by communities holds a joint procession on Sunday.

Procession of Shrine-owned mikoshi

As aforementined, every three years, the mikoshi owned by the Shrine makes a procession all day on Sunday through out the district the shrine divinities protect. This mikoshi is larger than any mikoshi owned by communities.

Joint procession of community-owned mikoshi

If it's the year which the Shrine's mikoshi doesn't make a procession, mikoshi owned by 17 communities within the territory the shrine gods guard hold a joint procession on Sunday noon.
