Shoren-ja Temple

松蓮社Shorenja (松蓮社), which is a 3-min walk from Toei Mita Line Onarimon Station, is a small subsidiary temple of Zojoji Temple. Behind its modest complex, there's a sacred cave called Benten-kutsu, which enshrines Buddhist goddess Benzaiten in the far end. This goddess, which originated in India, is a goddess of fortune and music and is sometimes enshrined in a cave like this. The cave is open to the public on the 1st and 17th of a month.
