The Ueno Natsu Matsuri (うえの夏まつり), or the Ueno Summer Festival, is a month-long festival held from mid-July to early August. It is composed of various events held around Ueno Park, but the sole large event consisting the festival is the Parade taking place on a Saturday in late July.

Ueno Natsu Matsuri Parade

The Ueno Natsu Matsuri Parade, which is the main event of the Ueno Summer Festival, is held on a Saturday evening in late July. Around thirty groups make a procession along the main street running from south to north and adjoining Ueno Park and Ueno Station.

At Open-air Music Hall

At the same time, stage shows will be perfomed at the small open-air music hall adjacent to Shinobazu-no-ike Pond in Ueno Park.
